The family farm, Honey Clough, is located 12km from the small rural town, Hankey, situated at the foot of the Winterhoek Mountains in the Eastern Cape.  The farm lies in the fertile Gamtoos Valley which is adjacent to the spectacular Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, a World Heritage Site.

Our micro-climate allows us to produce citrus with very high sugar content late in the citrus season.

The farm was started by James Wait in 1822. The first citrus trees were planted in 1890 and the first exports made in October 1906. Ten crates of Honey Clough oranges were exhibited at the 1924 British Empire Exhibition.

Since the mid 1990's we have changed our faming practices to cut down on the use of chemicals. No herbicides or systemic chemicals have been used since. Because of our isolated location, we are not affected by the chemical use of neighbouring farms and have been able to get the natural predators back into the orchards to keep the pests in check and restoring the balance in nature..

The proof of this change can be seen in the increased numbers in the aquatic and bird life populatiion. Raptor numbers have increased restoring the balance in nature outside the orchards.

All our fruit is produced for the local market only and is allowed to ripen on the trees. No degreening or artificial ripening processes are used.

The fruit is packed on the farm and reaches the market by refrigerated trucks within three days of been picked . This ensures the freshest fruit with the longest shelf life possible available to the consumer.

We are proud to support the

Annual Loerie Nartjie Festival

We have two cottages that offer relaxation and peace in the quiet Honey Clough. Each cottage provides accommodation for up to six guests and is fully-equipped for self-catering. Visit the website at www.innikloof.com
