The family farm, Honey
Clough, is located 12km from the small rural town, Hankey, situated at the foot of
the Winterhoek Mountains in the Eastern Cape. The farm lies in the fertile Gamtoos Valley which
is adjacent to the spectacular Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, a World Heritage
Site.
Our micro-climate allows us
to produce citrus with very high sugar content late in the citrus season.
The farm was started by James Wait in 1822. The first citrus trees were planted in 1890 and the first exports made in October 1906. Ten crates of Honey Clough oranges were exhibited at the 1924 British Empire Exhibition.
